Overview

COVID-19 has changed our lives in many ways, including the way we work. It has affected the way we use technology, our work-life balance and the future of flexible working.‘People’ by bento was built to serve this change in the work environment.
People is a human resource management system built for the changing work pattern. We took into account a world that is changing, habits that are changing and we build a product with a soul.

Problem Statement

Our client wants to keep track of human resource activities because Covid has affected the way they work but can’t get the best from current hr management tools which follow the old work pattern.

Understanding the problem / Discovery Phase

Prepared my interview questions and jumped on a quick call with the client to understand his challenges and why he wants a new tool. Got enough insights from our discussion. I used the Guerrilla research method since I had limited time on the project. Reached out to 3 other human resource managers in my network to know their challenges with the new pattern of working.

Insights
Competitive analysis

I did some market research on competitors(i.e gusto, Zoho and talentbase to investigate the current offerings in the market and take inspiration from features we liked about each app.

Building Empathy

Created user personas from the insight which would help during ideation.

Ideation and sketches

My team and I created different ‘how might we’ questions and voted for the best 3. Then we created different ideas for each how might we. At the end of the exercise we focused on four key areas which are: Employee management, talent management, leave management and separation. These are some of the sketches on how the problem can be solved

Visual Design Prototyping & Testing

Clickable Prototype

I created high-fidelity prototype which I supplemented with clickability using Figma.

Test

App is currently used in-house by bento employees.

Learnings

1. Big challenges requires small steps.

2. Always test ideas with users never assume.

3. Get feedback to improve designs.

4. Always Involve stakeholders in my process
